IMBY had a fun and inspiring day at the Southern Highlands Environment Day Fair.

Along with Southern Highlands Permaculture we created an absorbing 30 minute activity based around beans.  We told our Year 5 and 6 audience that we thought beans were much more interesting than PS/2 and Xbox.

We held a raw bean eating challenge, daring those who had never eaten a raw bean to try one.  We had interactive quizzes asking what continent beans came from and how long they have been used by humans.

The best part was when we gave everyone some bean pods and got them to shuck out the seeds.  The most we got from one pod was six seeds.  All the kids then were given a special envelope with a label "Earth Repair Beans" to put their seeds in.

All in all a fantastic day with over 200 kids given the IMBY message and some seeds to take away.

Lining up a timeline to discover how long humans have used beans.
