The theme for the 2009 Schools Environment day Fair was "Your local environment needs you!"  Held at the beautiful Corbett Gardens on April 7th and attended by over 200 Primary School students.

What better way to help your local environment than to become a Backyard Guerrilla Gardener.  Not those Guerrilla Gardeners who strut about on TV looking "fabulous" but a guerrilla gardener who really cares for their backyard and wants to plant and nurture useful things.

We had a busy and ambitious stand.

First we explained backyard guerrilla gardening.  Then we looked at useful plants - strawberries, potatoes, blueberries, peas and beans are all good for the Backyard Guerrilla Gardener.

We had a worksheet for the students to draw in their backyard and add their guerrilla gardening plans.  For those who wanted, there was an application form to become an official Backyard Guerrilla Gardener.  And the other side of the worksheet become the membership certificate.

Lots of Backyard Guerrilla Gardeners were "deputised" on the day.
