Your Pocket Money Beans are a type of bean plant known as a bush bean.

This means the plant does grow too tall - it grow about 40cm high.

IMBY has a couple of varieties of bean seeds we provide as Pocket Money Beans.

Small white seeds are a variety called Strike.

Brown/red seeds are Brown Beauty.

Both varieties are very reliable and will provide you with a good crop of beans.

Good beans like good soil, lots of sunlight and the right amount of water.

You can plant the seeds in your garden or in pots, or even in the foam boxes that get thrown out from supermarkets and fruit shops.  Make sure there is good drainage as bean plant s do not like to get waterlogged.

Place the seeds into the ground about 1 cm under the surface and give them a good soaking.  Don't water them until the seedlings emerge.

In the first few weeks watch for slugs and snails.  An adult can help you with some snail bait to protect your seedlings.

As the plants grow, the danger from snails and slugs is less and the plants pretty much look after themselves.

In about six or seven weeks your beans will flower and set their pods.  In a short time you can see the tiny beans grow and each day they become bigger.  The beans taste best raw before the seeds inside get too big.

Let some of the best looking beans grow fully as they become your seed supply for next year.  Leave them on the plant until the plant itself dies and goes brown.  When ready, the seed pod will be light brown and you can crack it open to find more perfect bean seeds, ready for next Spring.
